Dear Parents and students,
- Welcome to another season of dance.
- To all of our returning students thank you for helping us to make last season the best ever and to all of our new students, welcome to Simcoe.
- We have settled in nicely to our new building and despite taking some getting used to, I think it has been a great move. We have welcomed many new dancers into our family and have enjoyed the talent and energy that they have brought with them.
- I think most of us have gotten used to the waiting room being a bit more crowded and I have tried to alleviate some of the congestion by staggering the start times for the younger ones on Saturday mornings. This seemed to be the most difficult as the students are young and parents want to wait while they are in class. The rest of our parents seem to be enjoying the close proximity of the Tim Horton’s and the bakery/cafe.
- Classes will fill up quickly so please register early to secure your place in a class.
- At Simcoe we offer a friendly, caring, but disciplined environment where our students can develop their talents in all areas of dance.
- All of our qualified staff members are trained to teach to the level that we require of them.
- Students may participate in exams, which we offer in ballet, tap, jazz and modern. Exams are a great achievement and we encourage those students who have the ability to participate in the extra classes. We have trained many, many students who have completed their teaching certificates and gone on to follow a career in the dance field.
- Students may also audition for our competition team. This will involve extra classes and only those students who attend a minimum of four hours of dance per week (one of which must be ballet) will be considered.
- Our year-end show is held at the Newmarket Theatre and in 2011 will be held on Friday June 24th and Saturday June 25th.
- Our season runs from Monday September 13th, 2010 until our last performance of the show. Although for your convenience we offer monthly, term or payment in full on registration, it is expected that the student and parents understand that the commitment is for the full season.
- Please help us to keep things in order by following the rules:
- No gum chewing in class
- Use the garbage cans and recycle bins provided
- Be on time and ready for class (don’t forget shoes etc)
- Call and leave a message if your child is going to be absent
- Please check the website and bulletin board regularly
- Students waiting to be picked up must wait inside the building, not in the parking lot
- Please pick up your child on time (especially if they are the last class of the evening or on Saturday afternoon)
- Please keep siblings that are waiting in the waiting area quiet
- Please do not allow siblings to play in the hallway as this is disruptive to the classes in session.
- Finally if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s progress or any other issues, please speak to the teacher or give us a call and leave us a message. Please note our new telephone number is 905-251-1110.
- If it is more convenient for you please email us at simcoedance@rogers.com
- Remember we can’t fix a problem if we don’t know about it.
- We are looking forward to another great season with you all.
Ticket prices are $18.00 each.
No ticket orders will be accepted without payment.
